PDF accessibility remediation, for institutions that have to prove it

Foliowright for Mac

What it does
It re-tags a PDF for assistive technology (headings, reading order, lists, tables, a table of contents, page furniture marked as such) and turns a Word file into accessible HTML. Then it shows you what is left for a person: alternative text for images, headings to confirm, reading order to check. You make those decisions in the review console and download the result.
Where your documents go
Nowhere. The engine runs inside the app's sandbox on your Mac and makes no network requests. Documents and results are kept in the app's own container, ~/Library/Containers/com.cyquila.foliowright/; choose Foliowright → Show Data Folder to open it.
What this version does not do
It does not run veraPDF, so it does not certify PDF/UA conformance. Check the downloaded PDF with veraPDF or PAC before you publish it. It does not write image descriptions for you, and it cannot embed fonts that the source document left out.
If it will not start
Choose Show Log on the error screen, or Foliowright → Show Engine Log, and send us the last lines of server.log. It contains no document content.
Requirements
A Mac with Apple silicon, macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
